Siemens FIDAMAT 6 Extractive Gas Analyser with an FID (flame ionization detector) are well suited for continuous total hydrocarbon measurement. The measurement is not component specific but substance-class specific. In the first approximation, the measurement result is proportional to the number of C atoms in the respective molecule.
The variants of the FIDAMAT feature a wide range of applications. Almost every application can be executed, from trace hydrocarbon monitoring in high purity gases, which is made possible by high resolution and small differences in response factors, to total measurements of hydrocarbons in the presence of corrosive gases. A requirement for the latter application is the use of a filter that is wear-free and corrosion-resistant and the use of a quartz capillary as the measuring gas capillary. The high, adjustable operating temperature for the sample gas channel and detector also facilitates the measurement of high-boiling mixtures and the measurement of hydrocarbons at water vapor concentrations of up to 100%.
Special attention was paid to safety functions. After automatic start at the end of the warm-up phase and automatic measurement operation, a controlled self-monitoring function takes place. If the detector flame goes out accidentally, it is automatically re-ignited. In the event of non-ignition, an alarm is triggered and the gas supply is automatically switched off by a solenoid valve. The purging function in the event of a device failure, prevents the accumulation of toxic, corrosive, or explosive substances inside the device. In addition to transmitting the fault message via binary output contacts, all status messages can be called up individually on the display or through the serial interface.

TÜV version
Measurement of flue gases according to 13th BlmSchV/17th BlmSchV and TA Luft for oil, coal, gas, and waste as fuels.
Furthermore, the TÜV-approved versions of the FIDAMAT 6 comply with the requirements of EN 14956 and QAL 1 according to EN 14181. Conformity of the analysers with both standards is TÜV-certified.
Determination of the analyser drift according to EN 14181 (QAL 3) can be carried out manually or also with a PC using the SIPROM GA maintenance and servicing software. In addition, selected manufacturers of emission evaluation computers offer the possibility for downloading the drift data via the analyser’s serial interface and to automatically record and process it in the evaluation computer.
