Challenge

HCL is a highly toxic and corrosive medium, presenting significant safety and operational risks if not handled correctly. The customer required a reliable solution to prevent overspills and maintain optimal tank levels for the delivery pump.

Strict adherence to safety protocols and handling procedures was essential, and the installation had to be carried out under highly controlled conditions to protect both personnel and plant operations.

Solution

Our engineers installed Siemens Pointek CLS300 level switches, chosen for their robust performance and ability to provide accurate level detection in demanding chemical applications. The devices were configured to ensure the tanks maintained levels within the optimal range, with an ultimate high-level fail-safe to prevent overspills and protect downstream equipment.

Given the hazardous nature of the media, our team was fully equipped with HAZMAT protective gear and had undergone extensive handling training. In addition, the project was carried out under carefully reviewed Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) to ensure the highest standards of safety and compliance were met throughout.

Result

The installation was completed safely and successfully, giving the customer a robust and dependable level monitoring system that protects both staff and infrastructure. The Siemens Pointek CLS300 switches now ensure the HCL delivery pump operates only within safe limits, with an additional fail-safe feature to mitigate the risk of overspills.
