Reliable Process Instrumentation Supporting Carbon Reduction Initiatives
Background
Process Instrument Solutions recently supported a customer involved in a carbon capture project, supplying a complete range of Siemens instrumentation and gas analysers to ensure accurate and reliable process monitoring. The project demonstrates how Siemens technology can meet the demanding requirements of emerging energy and environmental applications.
Challenge
The application required precise level measurement within a process column operating at low pressures and elevated temperatures. These conditions posed a challenge for traditional instrumentation, as they demanded both high accuracy and long-term stability in order to deliver dependable measurement results. The customer also needed a solution that could be quickly commissioned, easily configured, and compliant with stringent safety and hazardous area approvals.
Solution
To address these requirements, we supplied and installed Siemens SITRANS P420 differential pressure transmitters fitted with remote-mounted diaphragm seals. This configuration allowed accurate level measurement while handling the process’s challenging temperature and pressure conditions.
The SITRANS P420 offers excellent turndown capability, high accuracy, and long-term stability, making it ideally suited for this application. Its intuitive Quick Start wizard, accessed via push buttons and an intelligent local display, simplified setup and interrogation. In addition, the transmitter is available with SIL 3, IECEx, ATEX, and FM approvals, ensuring full compliance for safety-critical and hazardous area installations, all with Siemens’ renowned short lead times.
